The SLLU Feminist Network welcomes you to Second Life!

We believe that you will find Second Life to be a truly rewarding experience: it is packed with interesting or entertaining activities and places to go, as well as thousands of people to meet. It is a terrific place to explore and learn new things, and to discover new people who share your interests or who can introduce you to new ones.

Second Life is, of course, a very large and complex virtual world that has developed its own customs and ways of doing things. Many of these parallel “real life,” but others are likely to seem strange and unfamiliar to newcomers. Although the learning curve can seem steep at first, it doesn't require much effort to become familiar with the basics of getting around and interacting in Second Life and establishing yourself as a full participant in this enormous and exciting virtual community.

This kit has been put together to assist those representing female avatars in that process, with a focus upon some of the particular challenges and issues that are likely to face females “in-world.” It will provide you with handy tips for setting yourself up quickly, and will arm you with the information you need to ensure that your experience of Second Life is as safe and purely enjoyable as possible.

One of the ways that you can meet new people, as well as contribute to the community of Second Life, is to join our own group, the SL Left Unity Feminist Network. We welcome new members, and are always ready to extend a helping hand to newcomers. Details on contacting us are below
